BUYING BULK BEEF - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

We offer a variety of packages for purchasing in bulk, anything from one large box to a full freezer worth of our Farm Fresh Beef. Below is an average of what you would be paying for and what you would be taking home. 

Our pricing may vary when compared to other farms. We are in the business of producing premium AAA Beef and nothing less. What you pay here will be reflected in the quality and care of our beef, and the wonderful eating experience you are about to enjoy.  

We base our pricing on the hanging weight of the animal. (The hanging weight is taken after the head, hide, feet and organs have been removed). Take home meat varies depending on the length of dry age. If your beef is cut at 14 days it will yield the most. If we continue to age up to 30 days, it will shrink ~8% each week. Quality increases as beef is aged longer. We like to age for 21 days, it is a happy medium. To touch on hanging weight a little more, for simplicity purposes this example we will use:

We 
  • Average hanging weight: 720 lbs per beef
  • Pricing: $5.95/lb * hanging weight for quarters, halves, and whole beef.
  • Prices include cut & wrap fees.
  • We age all our beef for 21 days, but if purchasing half or whole beef we can do more or less depending on your preference.
  • Custom cutting is available on halves and whole beef. Standard cutting is available on Quarter Beef (our favorite cuts).
  • For families that go through a lot of ground beef, please keep in mind you can add on a 20 lb or 50 lb Ground Beef Box to your order to hold you over. 

 

HALF BEEF

  • Total Price: $1950 - $2250We take a non-refundable deposit of $850 and then invoice you the balance. Balance is due prior to pick up or delivery. 
  • You choose your own cuts - but don't worry, we'll guide you through this process over the phone once your deposit is paid.
  • For your freezer: 225 - 255 lbs (40 lbs steaks, 60 lbs roasts, 10 lbs stew meat, 80 lbs ground, 20 lbs short ribs, 12 lbs brisket, etc) plus marrow bones and organ meats.
  • 5-6 Large Boxes (10 cubic feet)
  • Requires almost full of deep chest freezer (13.8 cubic feet)
  • Approximately 120 meals for a family of 4 (0.5 lb servings per person) 
  • Retail value of $2,525+

    WHOLE BEEF

    • Total Price: $3900 - $4350. We take a non-refundable deposit of $1600 and then invoice you the balance. Balance is due prior to pick up or delivery. 
    • You choose your own cuts, don't worry, we'll guide you through this process over the phone once your deposit is paid.
    • For your freezer: 440 - 485 lbs (80 lbs steaks, 125 lbs roasts, 20 lbs stew meat, 150 lbs ground, 30 lbs short ribs, 18 lbs brisket, etc) plus marrow bones and organ meats.)
    • 11 - 12 Large Boxes (17 - 20 cubic feet)
    • Requires full of deep chest freezer (18 cubic feet)
    • Approximately 225 meals for a family of 4 (1/2 lb servings per person)
    • Retail value of $5,000+

      QUARTER BEEF

      • Total Price: $975 - $1190. We take a non-refundable deposit of $500 and then invoice you the balance. Balance is due prior to pick up or delivery. 
      • For your freezer: 120 - 140 lbs (18 lbs steaks, 30 lbs roasts, 8 lbs stew meat, ~35 lbs ground, 10 lbs short ribs, and 8 lbs brisket) plus marrow bones and organ meats.  
      • 2.5-3 Large Boxes (5-6 cubic feet total)
      • Requires 3/4 of a small chest freezer (7 cubic feet) or almost 1/2 of deep chest freezer (13.8 cubic feet)
      • Approximately 65 meals for a family of 4 (1/2 lb servings per person)
      • Retail value of $1,400+

      Please Note:
      • The above amounts of what you would be taking home are an approximation and dependent upon how the beef is cut. For example, bone-in vs bone out cuts. And you can get more/fewer steaks, roasts, or ground by cutting the beef differently.
      • Prices may decrease or increase depending on the size of the Beef. For example, this month's beef hanging weights were 720 lbs and 808 lbs.
      • The diagram above is not an accurate depiction of our homegrown beef. 
      Our finished Beef are ~18 - 22 months old, so they are young healthy animals. It is our guarantee that they are additional hormone and antibiotic-free.  We finish our beef on homegrown hay, grass (depending on the time of year), and locally grown grains. Grass Finished Beef is offered only in summer - fall, August - October. These beef are slightly older at ~26 - 28 months as they take an extra year to grown and finish on grass.

      WHEN TO ORDER

      We butcher our Beef every month, so just give me a shout to line up a time that works best for you!  A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your meat, this deposit goes towards your final total which is due upon delivery/pickup.
      • Half Beef: $850 deposit
      • Whole Beef: $1,600 deposit
      • Quarter Beef: $500 deposit

      WHERE TO PICK UP

      Pick up at your convenience, either from our Barrhead butcher, or we can ship to your door!

      Shipping is refrigerated ensuring your beef stays frozen until it is delivered to your door. Shipping costs: $40 for a quarter beef, $50 for a half beef, and $60 for a whole beef. We can ship to most doors throughout Alberta: all around Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, Peace River, Whitecourt, and more.
